Dean Close St John’s School are seeking enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA). Working under the guidance of the Deputy Head, GTA’s play a key role in supporting pupil’s academic progress, contributing to the school’s co-curricular programme, and being active members of the boarding community.

GTA’s are attached to a boarding house, assisting Houseparent’s and tutor teams with pastoral care for the pupils, house activities and supervision during evenings and weekends. They also support pupils academically through classroom assistance, supervision of lessons, workroom duties and small-group teaching opportunities within a department related to their degree.

A significant part of the role involves contributing to the school’s extensive co-curricular programme, particularly through coaching, assisting with fixtures, and helping deliver evening and weekend activities.  There may also be opportunities to support other departments, such as music, drama and art.

GTAs are fully involved in the life of the school, including participation in staff meetings, school duties and boarding activities. The role offers valuable experience for those considering a career in teaching, with opportunities for lesson observation, training and professional development.
