Dean Close St John’s school are looking to appoint a new Head of Learning Support to join our staff team from September 2024 academic year. This is a permanent position working part time over 2.5 days per week. The school is forward-looking, focused on developing each individual; we are passionate about providing an exciting, vibrant curriculum to ignite a love of learning in each pupil. Other roles and responsibilities include:

  • To develop the learning support in school with a passion to see that all pupils are encouraged to reach their potential.
  • Prepare and implement programmes of work for children identified as needing learning support, using recognised multi-sensory methods.
  • To teach pupils in small support groups or 1:1 where support is required to enable pupils to make targeted progress.
  • Provide advice, guidance and training to classroom teachers and teaching assistants on supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Support teachers to develop and implement effective teaching and behaviour management approaches in the classroom.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher, who is degree qualified, with an appropriate teaching qualification and is passionate about working with children with SEND. Ideally, we would like to see the successful candidates with a relevant SEND qualification, for example SpLD qualification.
